The AirHogs Hawk Eye is a pretty amazing little coaxial chopper. Let me start by saying its not for precision flying, but the simple controls do allow you to maneuver decently with it. You control only heading and throttle. The unit tilts forward naturally causing forward flight when not turning. The heli is covered in a soft foam that seems to help take the abuse one would throw out. The real cool feature is the built in web camera. Its an ultra low resolution unit with only 64MB memory, but it can be controlled via the remote. You can 'snap' a photo with one finger on the remote, or the other finger you can start video recording. (records up to about 5 minutes)
Once back at the docking station (the heli sitting on the remote and the remote plugged into a USB port) - the Hawk Eye is seen as a simple USB flash drive. You can browse to the DCIM folder and view or copy your photos and video. It also used the USB power to charge the heli. I experienced about 8 minutes of flight from an hour and a half of charging. While not to be considered a great helicopter or video camera, it certainly mixes the two in fun fashion. Learning to fly it is a bit challenging to say the least, but after a few minutes your average teen should be able to get a hang of it. I would not hand this unit over to somebody younger than at least 12 on average.
