 RC HELICOPTER PICS & INFO

The Exceed G2 is one of my favorite inexpensive 400 class helis.  It has a full 2.4ghz 6CH controller, full collective pitch head (can do 3D and fly upside down) and with charger and battery included in a ready to fly (RTF) condition is hard to beat for under $200.  Geeks.com has them right now for even less, link below.  The pictures here are of mine - I will write a little thing up on it soon helping you get the hang of it without destroying it first time out.

Above you will see the comparison between the stock battery (about $25 to replace) and the closest I was able to source from hobbyking.com - the replacement at hobbyking was $10 and did NOT come with the proper connectors.  I was able to source the G2 connector (which is 3.5mm) on eBay.  I got 4 pieces from the seller named 'bigboy93433' - they were inexpensive and showed up quickly.  Here is a link to all his listings, I would buy from him again for sure.

I will test the battery in the coming days and see how the Exceed G2 runs with it.  Even though its a bit longer and a bit thinner I have already test fitted and it should be fine.  Hobbyking is hard to beat, but the customer service still needs a bit of work.  They are getting better though, keep in mind most items come from China so shipping takes a bit.       More to come....

Battery tests good - the measurements on the hobby king site were off though so the battery is too long to allow use of the canopy.  ugh.  more like franken chopper now.  oh well.

Created the video below the other evening on accident really, was just doing some trim settings at night with the shop lights on and the wife was kind enough to offer to record it.  Nothing special (other than being HD from her iPhone) but it will let you see the G2 hover and hear how it sounds.

First flight on the aftermarket lipo pack was good.  It is recommended when using a lipo battery for the first time to follow the break in rules.  All this really means is dont use more than 20% or so of the pack the first few flights and be sure to let it cool to room temp completley before recharging.  For the 20% percent rule, just fly a couple minutes at most.  May not be exact but it will work fine.  Secondly, dont do any harsh battery activity on it (no 3D) for the first few charges.  This will make sure that all the cells are charging and discharging evenly.
